Lionel Messi will break major record in Kansas City
Lionel Messi and Inter Miami will play against Sporting Kansas City in front of over 76 000 spectators at Arrowhead Stadium. That number will set a new attendance record for a soccer match in Missouri.
In 2010, an International Friendly between Sporting KC and Manchester United attracted over 52 000 fans, but that figure will be eclipsed this Saturday during the MLS match. The fame is scheduled to start at 8:30 PM (ET).

Injuries, man. The worst.
J.K. Dobbins put together a strong debut in 2020, rushing for 805 yards at 6.0 per carry and scoring nine touchdowns. He looked like he’d be a regular contributor for the Baltimore Ravens in future years.
Instead, two significant knee injuries and an Achilles tear have limited him to nine appearances over the last three seasons.
That injury history is a concern, for sure. Dobbins is only 25, though, and he excelled when available in 2020 and 2022. It’s too early for everyone to look past a runner of his caliber, especially a playoff/Super Bowl contender that can afford the attached risk.
Dobbins likely won’t command a multi-year offer, but he could put himself back in that picture with a healthy and productive 2024.

Affidavit — Chiefs’ Rashee Rice drove 119 mph before six-car crash | ESPN
Rice’s Lamborghini Urus reached 119 mph 4.5 seconds before the collision, according to the affidavit. A Corvette driven by SMU wide receiver Teddy Knox was traveling 116 mph 7.5 seconds before the chain-reaction collision before slowing to 91 1.5 seconds before the crash.
The crash on the North Central Expressway (U.S. Route 75) left at least seven people with injuries.
The two cars “made multiple aggressive maneuvers to get through traffic,” the affidavit said.

Round 2: No. 64 overall: Kamari Lassiter, CB, Georgia
Kansas City might have to move up in the first round — which GM Brett Veach has done in the past, grabbing Patrick Mahomes in 2017 and Trent McDuffie in 2022 — to acquire Worthy, but the Texas receiver’s elite 4.21 40 speed would be such a nice fit in a Chiefs offense that has lacked juice since Tyreek Hill’s departure in 2022. Worthy’s return ability is a bonus, in light of the league’s new kickoff rules. The Chiefs have some players who can make up for the loss of cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, but Lassiter is a potential bargain late in the second round who makes up for average straight-line speed with short-area quickness and tenacity.

But on Friday, when Luck made one of his first public appearances in Indianapolis since that evening, those memories were far away. Luck acknowledged a complicated tenure with the team but said he came away with mostly fond memories.
“We were not perfect,” said Luck, the No. 1 pick in the 2012 NFL draft. “I know I was not perfect. All of us wished we’d had multiple Super Bowls and done things and sort of vanquished some of those enemies that we didn’t quite ever get to. But I could probably speak for all the other guys, and I know I could speak for myself again — it wasn’t perfect, but we tried our best. We tried our hardest, and I hope we gave folks something to cheer about and something to be proud of. And I do get the sense that we [did].”
Luck was back at Colts headquarters Friday night to participate in former coach Chuck Pagano’s Chuckstrong Tailgate Gala, a fundraiser for the Indiana University Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center. Pagano, who famously underwent treatment for leukemia during Luck’s rookie season, personally invited Luck.
Appearing on “DeepCuts with VicBlends,” produced by Shadow Lion, the longtime New England Patriots quarterback was asked if he’d “pick up the phone” in the event a needy team called with an offer to return to the field.
“I’m not opposed to it,” Brady responded with a smile. “I don’t know if they’re gonna let me, if I become an owner of an NFL team, but I don’t know if — I don’t know, I’m always gonna be in good shape, (I’ll) always be able to throw the ball. So to come in for a little bit, like M.J. coming back? I don’t know if they’d let me, but I wouldn’t be opposed to it.”

Chiefs Salary Cap: 2024 hit for Mike Danna a bit more than we thought
We had estimated that Danna’s 2024 cap hit would fall between $3.1 million and $5.1 million — and would probably land somewhere around $4 million. According to OTC, this season’s cap hit falls on the high side of that range. It is $4.67 million in 2024, increasing to $8.17 million in 2025 and $11.17 million in 2026.
Danna is being paid a $6.5 million signing bonus, which accounts for $2.17 million of these yearly cap hits. He’ll be paid a base salary of $2.25 million this season, increasing to $5.24 million in 2025 and $8.24 million in 2026. All of his 2024 salary (and $4.25 million of his 2025 salary) was guaranteed at signing.
In each season, he can earn a workout bonus of $250,000 — and in the final two years, he can earn a per-game roster bonus of $30,000, which will count for $510,000 against the cap in each of those seasons.
